Well, almost… would have to work on the nationality I guess. But it reminds me of one of my favorite Karaoke songs. You definitely have to try it when you get the chance. I even think I get it reasonably right most of the time. Then… that is usally after 4 beers and lots of sake… at that point I excel at pretty much anything…
Enough musing about times past. This entry refers to my trip to New York City last weekend. Meeting Wendy, a friend from the Master at the ESCP-EAP, for the first time in three years. It was a fantastic weekend with her showing me a bit of NYC nightlife, enjoying one of the best Muffins I ever had and something they call frozen Yoghurt.
After arriving, we went directly to a small bar near her place, listening to a life Jazz performance, chatting a bit with her friends and trying out scrabble. The next morning, only 3.5 hours of sleep later, we went to a nearby cafe eating hot Muffins. Banana-Chocolate-Chip-Melt. Awesome.
Afterwards Wendy went to plant a million trees (give or take) and I started my well planned city tour: the Brooklyn Bridge, Ground Zero, Battery Park, Central Park, Staten Island Ferry, Apple Flagstore, the MOMA, Wall Street, Trump Plaza, Times Square, etc. (not in that order). Also due to the great weather it was fantastic!
In the evening I met up with Wendy again; after enjoying some Sushi we went to an improvised Theatre performance. Very impressive and funny how they spontaneously create a performance out of a few sentences given by the audience. We continued the evening with watching stand-up comedians in the Gotham Comedy Club. Very nice show, make sure you get seat in front of the stage when going there!
Next day, we had early Brunch and did a city tour (Gray Lines, the red buses) through Uptown and Downtown Manhattan. While it was fun, the hop-on and hop-off idea works best when you have buses available. At one point we had to wait almost an hour until the next bus came – while having to watch three of the competition drive by in regular intervals. So our recommendation is to try the blue buses (NYC Sightseeing) instead. It’s the same (high) price of $54 for the whole trip and at least they seem to be a bit more reliable.
Finally, the weekend came to a close and around 5pm I took the cab to La Guardia, returning back to my temporary home near Alabaster in Alabama (no comments…).
So I can only add: thank you Wendy for your hospitality and the time you took to show me a bit of NYC! I hope to get the chance to return the favor for wherever I will live sometime in the future. You are always welcome!
I will add some pictures later this week, depending on how busy I am. It is only three days to go afterall before I am returning home again.
